Marietta Tartaglia has been teaching social ballroom dance for over 15 years. She has taught at several studios as well as Scottsdale Community College, and has taught and performed with several dance companies, news stations, art festivals, city events, charity fundraisers, high schools, and nightclubs throughout the valley. Marietta teaches salsa with AzSalsa.net as well as offers private lessons in almost every social style, including wedding choreography. Currently Marietta actively competes with her partner in the beautiful style American Smooth (waltz, tango, Foxtrot, viennese waltz). When she is not on the dance floor with her partner, she prefers to spend her time dancing with the local phoenix salsa dancers.
In addition to dancing, Marietta is also a practicing occupational therapist. She uses dance as a therapeutic modality to assist those rehabilitating from injuries or those born with developmental challenges. She was a contributing author in a clinical textbook entitled, "Fundamentals of Hand Therapy: Clinical Reasoning and Treatment Guidelines for Common Diagnoses of the Upper Extremity, 2nd Edition", by Cynthia Cooper. Her chapter was written to teach therapists how to incorporate dance into the healing process for those with upper extremity injuries.
